Don't walk your cancer journey alone, help is at hand at free drop-in day - Hull Live

Benefits advice, make-up tips and how a horse may be able to help following a cancer diagnosis - it is all on offer as staff at the Queen's Centre for Oncology and Haematology, at Castle Hill Hospital, prepare for their latest health and wellbeing event. Taking place from 10am to 3pm on Thursday, November 6, anyone who is being treated for cancer or who has received a diagnosis in the past, is welcome at the Macmillan Information Centre to meet and chat with experts.

The event is not just for patients, however. Claire Walker, Macmillan Information health and wellbeing manager, said: "People who are told they have cancer can go through any and every emotion possible, but the diagnosis doesn't just affect the patient, it can have a big impact on families and loved ones too.

"Our health and wellbeing event will bring together a host of different experts, including clinical nurse specialists, alternative therapists and carers support teams, to offer advice to patients and families with the emotional, physical, and practical elements of living with cancer. Whether it's questions about how you'll pay the household bills, how to manage your physical appearance or concerns over how your diagnosis may be affecting your children, or if you're a cancer survivor looking to meet and share experiences with others, we'll have someone on hand to help."

From equine therapy through to wig advice and opportunities to socialise and stay physically active, teams will be on hand to assist with the following:

Macmillan Information Officers from Grimsby and Scunthorpe will also be available to assist patients receiving treatment for cancer who live in North or North East Lincolnshire. The event is free and there is no need to book, simply call in to the Queen's Centre any time between 10am and 3pm; confidential space to chat is available if required.

If you have any questions you can give the Macmillan Information Centre a call on 01482 461154.
