Hungarian media deliver worrying Milos Kerkez verdict as Liverpool star fails in Arne Slot response

Milos Kerkez has another chance to put his poor Liverpool form behind him and turn up for Hungary during the November international break.

Kerkez has struggled to get going at Anfield since arriving in the summer, most recently losing his place at left-back to Andy Robertson.

Playing for his country can offer a respite for the 21-year-old as he tries to play himself into some kind of form.

Unfortunately, that does not appear to have been the case for Kerkez so far this month. Hungary beat Armenia 1-0 on Thursday, with the Liverpool defender featuring for 80 minutes.

Reds teammate Dominik Szoboszlai claimed the match-winning assist for the Magyars, as he continued what has been an excellent season so far.

On the other end of the scale, though, Kerkez appeared to struggle once again, with Hungarian media commenting on an apparent loss of confidence in the former Bournemouth man.

Kerkez can hardly point the finger toward Arne Slot for a lack of opportunity this season.

Despite his young age and newness within the club, Slot gave his new man the starting berth over the much more experienced Robertson.

But having seen Kerkez become something of a liability, the Liverpool head coach has had no choice but to revert back to the Scottish stalwart.

Thursday represented a chance for Kerkez to answer back to that snub, with Hungary expected to comfortably beat Armenia. According to Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport, though, Liverpool's No. 6 did not do himself any favours.

Rating Kerkez as a six out of ten, they claim that he played with 'uncertainty' on Thursday, especially with his passing.

Kerkez is claimed to have made some 'astonishing' mistakes when trying to find his teammates, with a summary that his self-confidence looks to have 'disappeared' following recent events at Liverpool.

News that Kerkez struggled to find the feet of his teammates will perhaps not be a surprise to Liverpool supporters.

While he has a pass completion rate of 85.9% in the Premier League this season, the young left-back connects with only 29.2% of long balls. It has been a problem.

Nevertheless, it is easy to forget just how young Kerkez still is. These were always going to be some teething issues to be ironed out.

For now, it is vital that Slot shields him from the spotlight as much as possible. That means keeping Robertson in the team and working with Kerkez behind closed doors.

Playing for his national team was a chance for him to show Slot that it was wrong to take him out of the side. However, it sounds as though Kerkez failed to answer his manager, and he must now focus on getting the basics right.
