Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tarjun in Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan, has received the first shipment of 10 tons of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) from the Lestari Martapura Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Waste Management Facilities (TPS-3R) in Banjar Regency.
General Manager of Indocement Tarjun Factory Agus F Rasad said here this first shipmentis an important step in cooperation between Indocement, Banjar District Government, South Kalimantan Provincial Government, and Environment Ministry in promoting sustainable and green waste management.
"Indocement use RDF as an alternative fuel to process cement production. This is in line with the company's commitment to reduce the use of fossil energy and expanding the implementation of sircular economy in industry," he said in Kotabaru, Thursday.

The RDF transport truck was symbolically released by the Environment Ministry's Deputy for Waste, Hazardous and Toxic Waste Management Hanifah Dwi Nirwana. Also attending PT ITP representative Eva Ariani, Head of South Kalimantan Environment Office Rahmat Prapto, Secretary of Banjar Public Housing, Settlement Areas and Environment Office(DPRKPLH) Gusti Rendy Firmansyah on November 14, 2025.
The delivered RDF is low-value plastic waste, processed through shredding and drying to meet alternative fuel standards.
This cross-institutional collaboration is expected to become a model for integrated waste management and encourage other regions to develop similar program by utilizing RDF as an alternative fuel.

Indocement continues to be committed to support the government;s efforts in reducing waste, control greenhouse gas emission and applying more environmentally friendly industrial practices.
RDF is an alternative fuel produced from waste that has been processed through sorting, shredding, and drying to reduce water content and increase its calorific value.
