19-year-old accused of threatening Fort Smith officers with gun | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

FORT SMITH -- A 19-year-old man is scheduled for trial on charges related to aggravated assault with a firearm against two Fort Smith Police officers.

KeShawn Jamel Clayton, who was 18 at the time he was arrested, also faces charges of aggravated residential burglary and terroristic threatening in the first degree, according to arrest records from the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office.

He pleaded not guilty and was assigned a public defender on Oct. 23, court records show.

Clayton was arrested Oct. 13, and his address was listed as Tulsa Street in Fort Smith. In court records Oct. 23, he listed his address as Spiro, Okla.

Clayton was armed with a deadly weapon Oct. 12 when he committed aggravated residential burglary, according to court documents. He is charged with terroristic threatening in the first degree against one individual.

Clayton also is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm against two police officers, court records show.

A jury trial is set for March 10, court documents indicate. Clayton remained in the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on $150,000 bond Friday.

The police report on the Oct. 12 incident that led to the charges against Clayton is still under review at Fort Smith Police Department, a spokesperson said Wednesday.
