Nominations are due by Dec. 1 and can be emailed to dlemke@gannett.com.
FOND DU LAC - The Reporter is bringing back People of the Year to recognize the people who have made an impact on Fond du Lac in 2024, and we need your help.
Here's how you can help us decide who should be on the list.
Nominate someone who has made a difference in 2024
Send us your nominations by emailing the person who should be recognized, plus a paragraph or two explaining how they've made a difference in the area, to Daphne Lemke at dlemke@gannett.com.
You can also call 920-907-7968 and leave a voicemail explaining your nomination. Please also leave your contact information if you are available for follow-up questions.
We will collect nominations until Dec. 1.
How will I know if someone's made enough of an impact?
Anyone you think has impacted Fond du Lac for the better in 2024 is eligible to be nominated, whether their contributions are well-known in the community or have thus far been quietly celebrated.
We'll let you interpret what it means to make a difference, but the best candidates are often those who championed specific, concrete changes in the area or otherwise reached many people.
How will The Reporter choose the list?
As we take reader submissions, we will add a few of our own nominations, then narrow the list down to our finalists. This list will be published toward the end of the year.
The Reporter will bring back People of the Year after 4 years
The last time The Reporter published a People of the Year list was in 2020. Readers and Reporter staff nominated Maggie Hefter and Lisa Freiberg for their tireless election work; Brenda Kissinger and Kelly Rehfeldt as health care workers who were front line to the COVID-19 pandemic; Devon Snyder, who spoke up on his experiences growing up Black in Fond du Lac; and more who tackled COVID-19, environmental issues and other local issues head-on.
