The G League's OKC Blue split their two-game series against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers with a 128-124 loss on Monday. The road defeat put OKC's record to 7-2 on the season.
After blowing out the Vipers on Saturday, the Blue faced a much tougher challenge in their rematch. The Blue had a 38-30 deficit after the first quarter. A 33-point second frame by OKC changed that as it entered halftime with a 63-57 advantage.
Both teams tallied 32 points in the third quarter. The Blue held a 95-89 lead entering the fourth frame. After Miller Kopp made a 3-pointer to push OKC's lead to nine points with a little over three minutes left. Rio Grande Valley called a timeout and came out swinging. A 9-3 run tied it at 122 apiece with 1:20 left.
Nate Williams and Markquis Nowell scored on driving layups to give the Vipers a four-point lead with 10 seconds left. They utilized a 39-point fourth quarter to complete a double-digit comeback over the Blue.
The Blue shot 48% from the field and went 20-of-47 (42.6%) from 3. They had 32 assists on 45 baskets. All seven OKC players that played scored double-digit points.
Meanwhile, the Vipers shot 50% from the field and went 17-of-55 (30.9%) from 3. They had 32 assists on 48 baskets. Five Vipers players scored double-digit points.
