The Ning King, founder of Argo Manunggal Group, passes away

JAKARTA - The founder of Argo Manunggal Group, The Ning King, passed away on Sunday (2/11). Argo Manunggal is the controlling shareholder of PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk (ASRI).

The news was conveyed by ASRI through its official social media account.

"The entire Alam Sutera Group family extends its deepest condolences. May the peace and light of Christ's love always be with and comfort the bereaved family," read the post on the company's Instagram account, @alam_sutera_realty, quoted on Monday (3/11).

The Ning King began his career in his family's textile business before relocating it to Jakarta in 1949.

In 1977, he founded Argo Pantes, and later established several other companies, including Manufaktur Manunggal and Dharma Manunggal, which together formed the Argo Manunggal Group.

Today, the Jakarta-based conglomerate operates across various sectors, including textiles, steel, property, mining, energy, and agriculture.

Born in Bandung, West Java, in 1931, Ning King founded more than 40 factories and joint ventures, employing over 35,000 people.

He was also known as a prominent property entrepreneur. In addition to managing the Bekasi Fajar Industrial Estate, he was the owner of Alam Sutera.

His journey in property development began in 1994 when Argo Manunggal Group obtained development rights over a large tract of land in Serpong, and went on to establish Alam Sutera, which later launched the Alam Sutera Township project. (DH/ZH)
