An emotional farewell was bid to veteran actor Satish Shah on Sunday morning in Mumbai, as his 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai' co-stars Rupali Ganguly and Rajesh Kumar were seen breaking down during the funeral.
Scenes outside the funeral venue were filled with grief as Rupali Ganguly, who played Monisha Sarabhai, was seen in tears while arriving to pay her last respects. Sumeet Raghavan was seen consoling her as she folded her hands to photographers, requesting them to stop filming the moment. Rajesh Kumar, who played her on-screen husband Rosesh, was also visibly overwhelmed and broke down as he left the ceremony.

In another video going viral on social media, the team of 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai' was seen singing the show's theme song at the funeral. The caption to the clip shared on X read, "Sarabhai's fangirl heart always felt happy hearing the title song from their reunion, but it totally shattered seeing them singing like that. A team who have lived like a family for so many years is left broken. God is unkind sometimes (sic)."

Other members of the 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai' team, including Deven Bhojani and producer JD Majethia, were present to honour their long-time colleague and friend. Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh and several television and film personalities also attended the funeral, held at Vile Parle. The gathering reflected the immense respect Shah commanded across generations of the entertainment industry.
Satish Shah's death marks the end of an era in Indian comedy. With roles in 'Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun!', and 'Main Hoon Na', Shah carved a niche for himself as one of Hindi cinema's most loved comic actors.
The beloved actor, known for his unforgettable portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai and a career spanning decades in television and film, died on Saturday afternoon at 74. He had been battling kidney-related complications and had undergone a transplant a few months ago.
