Second season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives accused of being manufactured

THE second season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has been accused of being 'too tame' and manufactured after an explosive first series.

Last year when it premiered on Hulu, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives shocked the world when a group of MomTok influencers were caught in the middle of a swinging sex scandal.

And the "soft swinging" couples have returned to our screens on Hulu in the Unites States and Disney+ in the United Kingdom.

The couples, who share partners with limited sexual contact, can be seen on screen for the all-new slew of episodes.

But as the episodes drop around the world this morning and viewers tune in, many thoughts are already being aired.

Ahead of all of the episodes being uploaded to the streaming platforms, a trailer dropped.

At the time, one person slammed the show for being "fake" and "scripted".

"So, I just watched the trailer to 'The Secret Life of Mormon Wives' and it was painfully awful," penned one.

They added: "None of these people are Latter-Day Saints due to the fact they openly admit to sexual immorality. 'Reality TV' is fake and scripted anyways."

AV Club writer Christina Izzo has shared her thoughts on the new series after it dropped, revealing how she thinks it feels "overly manufactured".

In an article where she wrote about the new season in full, she dubbed it a "rehash" ans said it feels "more prophetically calculated".

She added how the cast are "a bit too chronically online and self-possessed" with the scenarios they find themselves in "way too planned out".

As well as this, she touched on how series like this and The Kardashians "do tend to feel more manufactured".

But she added how season two of this series "feels particularly produced - and by the wives themselves".

Meanwhile, on Reddit, other viewers slammed the show as "fake" and "scripted".

"Surely the surprise is fake?" said one fan on the platform as they spoke about Whitney's pregnancy announcement.

They added: "Ok, so I know reality TV can be fake, scripted, whatever. But when they show Whitney walking in to the cowgirl event pregnant.

"And everyone looks shocked, or 'wait is that Miranda!?', or even S1 when Whitney showed up to Mikayla's bday party and everyone is so shocked...

"Surely they already know this was going to happen? Or do you think the producers genuinely do not tell them?"

But though some people aren't impressed by the show and think it's tamer than the last series, there is still a decent amount of drama.

The new season sees new Mormon wife Miranda McWhorter join the clan.

And drama kicks off due to the major history she has got with one of the fellow wives.

Miranda has a fraught history with Taylor Frankie.

The two wives even had s feud following the swinging scandal.
