Northstate voters show confidence in ballot process as they head to the polls

NORTHSTATE, Calif. -- On Nov. 4, we heard from Northstate voters who showed up in person at polling places.

At the Shasta County Elections Office in downtown Redding, community member Kim Kathman dropped off her ballot. She told us it was an easy process.

Kathman said she's confident in the ballot processing system before sharing her thoughts on Prop 50.

"I totally trust it. I don't have any concerns," Kathman said.

Kathman added, "Redistricting is a bad idea for our area. I think it's a very bad idea, and I think it's important that that does not happen to us."

Kathman said she feels it's crucial that people vote and make their voices heard, especially in this election.

For anyone who has not voted yet, the polls are open until 8 p.m.

Shasta County Assistant Clerk and Registrar of Voters Brent Turner told KRCR there should be an initial count within minutes after the polls close.
