Srinagar, Dec 8: Srinagar Police have launched a citywide crackdown on hotels, homestays, and houseboats for failing to report the stay of foreign nationals under mandatory Form C rules. The action follows routine inspections aimed at tightening security in the summer capital.
During the checks, police found several establishments allowing foreign guests to stay without submitting the required details to the Foreigners Registration Office. Officials said this is a clear violation of the Immigration and Foreigners Act and poses serious security risks.
According to Srinagar Police, in Rajbagh, Hotel Blossoms, Hotel Grand MS, and Hotel Golden Forest were found hosting foreign nationals without filing Form C, leading to the registration of FIR No. 65 of 2025 at Rajbagh police station. In Khanyar, Hotel Khyber at Khayam failed to produce any proof of Form C submission despite repeated directions, resulting in FIR No. 57 of 2025 at Khanyar police station. In Lal Bazar, IMY Homestay at Nowabagh Bagwanpora was booked for deliberately concealing the stay of a foreign national from Israel along with others, leading to FIR No. 60 of 2025.
Similarly, in Nishat, a private house owner at Brein failed to report the stay of foreign guests, prompting FIR No. 101 of 2025 at Nishat police station. In Ram Munshi Bagh, four houseboats on Dal Lake -- Floating Castle, Best View, Crystal Palace, and Lake Palace -- were found hosting foreign nationals from Taiwan, Russia, Romania, and Spain without reporting their stay. FIR No. 94 of 2025 was registered in this connection.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace any wider links connected to these violations. Srinagar Police have issued a strict warning to all hotels, guest houses, houseboats, and homestays to comply with Form C rules without exception. Officials emphasized that non-compliance will invite firm legal action, underlining the drive's focus on public safety and strengthening city security.
