Friends and members of Anthony Joshua's team have been confirmed as the fatalities in the crash in Nigeria that injured the boxing champion.
Sina Ghami and Latif 'Latz' Ayodele were killed in a two-car collision on Monday (December 29) on the highway in the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. It is understood that both Mr Ghami and Mr Ayodele were travelling in a Lexus jeep with Joshua at the time of the crash.
Mr Ayodele had shared a video of him and Joshua playing table tennis just hours before the crash, and had been a part of AJ's team for the previous decade.
Mr Ghami, a physio in the boxer's team and is also a friend of his, was also killed in the tragedy. Joshua is reported to have suffered minor injuries in the crash, is stable in hospital and has been in contact with his family.
Footage of Joshua sitting topless in the wreckage of the crash was shared on social media, which saw him visibly shaken and surrounded by broken glass.
He was conscious and talking to emergency services following the crash, with Mr Ayodele and Mr Ghami being pronounced dead at the scene.
Joshua's boxing promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that he was aware of the incident, saying in a statement to the Daily Mail Sport: 'I am away on a family holiday and awoke to the news of this incident. We are trying to contact Anthony and in the meantime we don't want to speculate on how he is, but thankfully he appears OK from what I have seen in the images.
'We are awaiting more information and will update in due course.'
Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo also confirmed the crash, saying: 'I can confirm an accident occurred and Anthony Joshua has been taken to hospital,' adding that he's 'fine.'
The boxer, who has family roots in Sagamu, Ogun State, was seated behind the driver at the time of the collision, alongside another passenger. Four people were travelling in the Lexus, while Joshua's security detail followed in a separate vehicle.
An eyewitness told Punch newspaper that bystanders attempted to assist before officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived on the scene.
The two-time world heavyweight champion had just defeated YouTuber Jake Paul in a boxing match earlier this month.
