Ahmedabad: A 50-year-old man from Shahpur was allegedly defrauded of Rs 1.9 lakh after selling his vehicle to a local, who then defaulted on over a third of the agreed-upon payment, according to an FIR lodged by him on Wednesday. The complainant, a driver by profession, told police that he agreed to sell his car to the accused for Rs 2.3 lakh in July. The accused took possession of the vehicle and related documents, assuring payment in 15 days. He later gave Rs 40,000 in cash and a cheque for the remaining Rs 1.9 lakh, which bounced upon deposit.When the complainant's family demanded payment, the accused allegedly threatened them, warning that they would not get either the money or the car.An FIR has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal breach of trust, cheating, and intimidation.
