C17 Crime Clips for Friday, Dec. 19

GILLETTE, Wyo. - Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff's Office.

Domestic, Dec. 18, GPD

Officers responded to a report of a dispute between 45-year-old man and his 12 and 18-year-old daughters. The father became angry with the 12-year-old over candy she had eaten when the man threatened to cut off her hair while retrieving scissors. The 12-year-old was pulled by her ponytail off the bed causing her to strike the floor and report lower back pain. The 18-year-old attempted to intervene when the father took her to the ground, restraining her with his legs and applying a chokehold from behind which caused her difficulty to breath. As the girls tried to leave with a friend later on, the father placed the 12-year-old in a chokehold from behind while trying to pull her back inside which caused her difficulty breathing and severe pain. The man was arrested for domestic battery and child abuse.

Stalking, Dec. 18, GPD

A 31-year-old woman reported she was receiving unwanted texts, calls and voicemails from her ex-boyfriend after a domestic incident in Denver, Colorado. The woman asked the man to stop contacting her but he refused. She provided police with call logs that showed he had called her approximately 80 times and left 40 voicemails. She was worried for her safety and was trying to hide out around Gillette. He attempted to contact hotels to try and find her and eventually he did, where then a verbal confrontation started. He fled the area and police later found him at his home where he was arrested.
