Man, 25, Arrested in Connection with San Marino Residential Burglary - MyNewsLA.com

A 25-year-old Azusa man who allegedly scaled a San Marino residential wall and stole some electronic equipment was taken into custody, police said Friday.

According to the San Marino Police Department, the unidentified man allegedly jumped over the wall Thursday in the 1200 block of Belhaven Road, but was ultimately confronted by the homeowner. The man fled but was later spotted in a parking lot in the 2900 block of Huntington Drive and taken into custody after a short foot chase in which he allegedly jumped over another wall in an effort to elude officers.

After he was detained, the suspect was positively identified by the resident who had confronted him earlier.

"Video surveillance provided by a business in the 2900 block of Huntington Drive showed the suspect within the parking lot between two vehicles during the original incident. Officers later checked the area and located a backpack the suspect was observed wearing by multiple witnesses," according to a police department statement.

Upon further investigation, drugs, paraphernalia, and several electronic items were discovered inside the backpack. Police said the residential burglary victim reported a video recorder and digital camera missing from the residence, which was presumed to be the electronic items inside the backpack.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trespassing at the Pasadena City Jail, police said.
