Mark Davis and Tom Brady are being asked to make the most difficult decision yet: Firing Pete Carroll from the Raiders

Carroll spent 15 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, compiling a 137-89-1 record and winning Super Bowl XLVIII before moving into an advisory role but his transition to Las Vegas, however, has been difficult.

The Raiders now sit 2-7 with a three-game losing streak despite landing Geno Smith from Seattle, reuniting him with Carroll. But the quarterback he has struggled, leading the league with 12 interceptions and posting just 1844 passing yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

Now sports journalist Rob Parker suggested the Raiders should part ways with Carroll as frustrations grow from the front office about the direction of the franchise at the Allegiant Stadium.

On Saturday's episode of The Odd Couple with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington on November 8, he emphasized the team's struggles during Carroll's first campaign in Las Vegas.

"If I'm the Raiders Mark Davis, there's two things I'm doing in the offseason," Parker said. "I'm getting a haircut, a good one.

"And I'm getting rid of Pete Carroll. ... This team is awful. Just awful."

Smith remains confident in the team's potential under Carroll. The quarterback believes the Raiders can rebound and contend for the Super Bowl if the team corrects its offensive mistakes and stabilizes performance across all phases of the game.

The Raiders are scheduled to face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, Nov. 17, at 20:15 ET/17:15 PT.

Pressure is mounting on Carroll as his leadership and the team's performance are under scrutiny from ownership, minority owner Tom Brady, and a frustrated fanbase.

Carroll responded to Thursday's defeat by firing special teams coordinator Tom McMahon, as reported by NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. The move followed repeated special teams errors that contributed directly to the loss.

Thursday's game exposed season-long issues. Punter AJ Cole had a punt blocked in the third quarter, allowing Denver to score on a 32-yard field goal, and kicker Daniel Carlson missed a 48-yard attempt that would have tied the game late in the fourth quarter.

"Earlier today, we made the tough decision to relieve Tom McMahon of his duties as special teams coordinator," Carroll said. "I have a great amount of respect for Tom and the work that he has done in this league, but we have decided to move in a different direction."
