PESHAWAR - The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) on Wednesday released a comprehensive report on the suicide attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters, revealing the scale of the explosives used and the meticulous planning behind the assault.
The attackers carried 20 kilograms of explosive material, packed in suicide jackets divided into front and back compartments. Analysis of the fragments indicates the blasts could have caused damage within a 30-meter radius. The report confirmed that the explosions were detonated by the attackers themselves, with no evidence of remote control devices.
The investigators recovered several items from the site, including eight hand grenades, 2 mm-sized ball bearings, and two-foot primacord wires, highlighting the organized nature of the attack. The BDU stated that prompt response by security personnel prevented a much larger disaster.
The authorities said the findings from the BDU report would help enhance security measures and counterterrorism strategies in the region, underlining the ongoing threat posed by organized militant groups.
