"It was the coolest experience": the first wheelchair-bound astronaut returned to Earth after a space flight. This is reported by The Guardian.

An engineer from Germany, Mikaela Benthaus, made a suborbital flight on a Blue Origin New Shepard rocket on Saturday, rising to an altitude of more than 105 km above the Earth -- the flight lasted about 10 minutes.

Benthaus, who suffered lower limb paralysis after a mountain bike accident seven years ago, became the first wheelchair-bound woman to travel in space. Together with her, five more passengers participated in the flight. The trip was helped to organize and financed by former SpaceX CEO Hans Koenigsmann, the ticket price was not disclosed.

According to the woman, the whole flight was accompanied by vivid emotions: in zero gravity, she laughed and tried to turn upside down. Blue Origin noted that the New Shepard capsule was originally designed with accessibility in mind, so only minimal improvements were needed to accommodate Michaela.
