Christmas in the Village is a unique cultural community celebration and holiday tradition that builds on the history of the area around 24th and Lake Streets.
The free annual event, transforms five blocks of North Omaha into a winter wonderland -- within a Dreamland. The event brings people to 24th and Lake so they can see, taste and feel an arts and entertainment district.
Dozens of community partners sponsor the celebration, which features an assortment of holiday-themed indoor and outdoor activities -- as well as free outdoor carriage rides, toy giveaways and a Nativity scene complete with live animals.
If you're looking for gifts, there's a holiday boutique that has grown to offer more than 30 vendors showcasing unique merchandise. And if you're hungry, there are food trucks galore as well as local restaurants that will have food for purchase -- and organizations that offer family meals for free.
It's about family, it's about community, it's about welcoming Christmas while providing exposure to local businesses. In this neighborhood, you don't have to wait on Santa. Santa is waiting on you!
