Leigh's War Memorial has once again been targeted by vandals after spray paint was discovered on the memorial this week.
Reports of the graffiti emerged on December 18, when members of the public noticed a name or "tag" sprayed onto the stone box beside the cenotaph on Church Street.
The monument honours local service personnel who lost their lives in both the First and Second World Wars.

Wigan Council has since confirmed that the graffiti has been removed.
A spokesperson for the authority said: "It appears somebody wrote their name/tag on the stone box around the cenotaph.
"It's already been cleaned off."
The incident has prompted frustration among local residents, particularly as this is not the first time the memorial has been defaced.
In September 2023, specialist cleaners were commissioned by Wigan Council after vandals targeted the cenotaph with graffiti, again prompting swift remedial work.
The cenotaph remains a focal point of remembrance in Leigh, and the repeated acts of vandalism have been widely condemned by the community.
