Suspected DUI driver arrested after rollover

A suspected drunk driver fled the scene of a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon but was eventually arrested.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to therollover crash near 24 Road and G Road.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the driver, later identified as The driver, identified as 48-year-old Anthony Martinez, had been traveling northbound on 24 Road when he crossed the median and struck a boulder. Martinez allegedly fled the scene on foot but was contacted by law enforcement a short distance away.

Martinez, was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on charges that include DUI -- 3 or more prior convictions, aggravated driving with revoked license-habitual offender, careless driving and failure to notify police of an accident.

The Grand Junction Police Department reminds community members to call 911 immediately if they suspect an impaired driver on the roadway.
