PATTAYA, Thailand - The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for heavy rain across Thailand, with particular vigilance for 12 provinces including Chonburi, which is expected to experience significant downpours over the next few days. Pattaya residents and visitors should prepare for periods of heavy rainfall, localized flooding, and possible travel disruptions.
The weather system is driven by a strong monsoon trough stretching from the upper South through the East, interacting with a low-pressure area over the central South China Sea. This combination brings strong easterly and southeasterly winds over the eastern region, including Pattaya and the surrounding coastal areas.
Morning temperatures in northern Thailand remain cool, but in Pattaya, humidity and heavy rainfall are expected to dominate daytime conditions. Authorities urge residents, tourists, and businesses to take precautions to protect property and ensure personal safety.
Local officials also warn of rough sea conditions along the Gulf of Thailand. Wave heights in the eastern seaboard, including Pattaya waters, may reach 1-2 meters, with waves over 2 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Boaters and fishers are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid venturing into open waters during severe weather conditions.
Agricultural communities in Chonburi Province are advised to secure crops and equipment, while the general public should be mindful of slippery roads, potential flash floods, and disruptions to daily travel.
As heavy rains are expected to persist over the coming days, residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the Meteorological Department and follow instructions from local authorities to stay safe.
