Premier League head rules explained as Man Utd score after Alexis Mac Allister injury - Daily Star

Liverpool fans have been left furious with Bryan Mbeumo's goal as Manchester United took the lead at Anfield.

Just minutes into the clash between the two fierce rivals in the Premier League, Mbeumo slotted past Giorgi Mamardashvili, but how the goal came about left the home fans and players raging at Michael Oliver after Alexis Mac Allister suffered a head injury in the build up.

The Argentine was accidentally elbowed in the back of the head by Virgil van Dijk and was left on the floor as United continued their attack.

Seconds later, Mbeumo had been rolled through on goal to score by Amad Diallo, with Van Dijk out of position and Mac Allister still floored and holding his head.

Referee Oliver didn't stop the play, with Sky Sports saying that the official hadn't seen the injury.

According to the Premier League's guidelines on head injuries, if a player is suspected of a head injury, the referee stops play and signals for medical staff to assess the player.

Regardless of whether the injury has sustained because of a collision of a team-mate, the play, by the guidelines, should be stopped.
