'Delightfully simple' restaurant storms into Michelin Guide | Plymouth Live

A "delightfully simple" restaurant has been added to the Michelin Guide.

St Eia in St Ives, Cornwall, was added to the Guide last month, with Michelin critics hailing its uncomplicated menu, delicious flavours and a wine list "well worth pouring over".

The restaurant says it serves "simple, seasonal, bistro inspired food with ingredients sourced from the best producers and suppliers".

Its sample menu, described in the Michelin Guide as Modern British, features dishes such as Uchiki kuri squash, whipped ricotta, pine nuts & chilli (£14), Moules marinière (£19) and Coombeshead Farm smoked Red Devon & Mangalitza sausage, braised beans & green sauce (£19).

The review reads: "Simply delightful and delightfully simple, this rustic wine bar does nothing complicated or showy to earn your affections, but will undoubtedly capture them anyway.

"Tucked away down the narrow cobbled streets, away from this seaside town's summertime bustle, it's a sweetly run and immediately likeable place.

"The sharing plates are bright, fresh and generous, keeping things simple but delivering on flavour with the likes of crab and dill crostini or steamed Dorset clams with chilli and bay. Unsurprisingly, the wine list is well worth poring over."

The restaurant joins the likes of Adam Handling's Ugly Butterfly in Newquay, which was added to the Micheline Guide in October.

While Michelin Stars and Bib Gourmands are only revealed at the annual Michelin Guide Ceremony, the Inspectors add restaurants to the selection year round.

Those latest additions are released on a monthly basis.
