Gaming icon Technoblade is set to receive a heartfelt tribute in Hypixel's upcoming sandbox title Hytale, a gesture that has deeply moved the Minecraft community.
In an official announcement on Nov. 23, Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme revealed he had received the blessing of Technoblade's father to include something in Hytale to honor the late creator's memory. He also encouraged fans to contribute ideas for the tribute, saying: "He was a big part of our journey with Hypixel, and I wish for him to be part of this one as well."
Simon also shared a lighthearted "lore" moment, recalling how Technoblade once applied for a Facebook Marketing role at Hypixel, only to be deemed too young at the time.
While hundreds of tribute suggestions have poured in, a few have particularly resonated with the community. One fan, ArcanadragonArt on X, proposed adding a "Technoblade constellation in the sky." They wrote, "It wouldn't have to be visible every night -- or maybe it's just a rare Easter egg -- but it's more respectful than a boss or NPC that players could potentially treat disrespectfully in-game, and would be so touching."
Another fan named Eveee_cx on X created artwork envisioning "The Kingblade - Farewell," the perfect sword to celebrate Technoblade's legacy in Hytale.
Ex-Hypixel moderator BreeZaps proposed a free "Technoblade cloak" for Hytale that mirrors his legendary cape, complete with a bio that says "once worn by a warrior who never died."
As a generous bonus, the cloak would be available to every player at no cost, but include an optional "pay-what-you-want" donation slider, with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to cancer research.
Ciguato_ pitched a wholesome, iconic idea: "Naming a pig Technoblade gives it a crown." Other fans leveled it up with rare spawns, taming as loyal pets, special interactions like bowing to pay respects, or Easter eggs tying into his lore or special quests.
Nezerblack1, however, captured the hype in one post: Sword, statue, city, NPC, and "Techno deserves it all."
As of now, Simon has not confirmed the final form of Hytale's tribute to Technoblade -- but he certainly has a wealth of heartfelt and creative ideas to choose from.
Technoblade (real name: Alex) rose to prominence for his comedic yet highly competitive content on the Minecraft server Hypixel and beyond. His signature humour, "Blood God" persona, and exceptional gameplay earned him a passionate and enduring fanbase.
He passed away in June 2022 after a battle with cancer, leaving a lasting impact on the gaming community.
Now that Hytale's finally back in active development after Riot Games handed back its rights, Hypixel's announcement opens the door for Technoblade's legacy to be honored in a new era of sandbox gaming.
