One day before the Sunday, November 3, event, Zac, 40, posted an inspirational video to all of the marathon runners. "What is your reason to keep going?" he captioned the clip. "Good luck to everyone running tomorrow." Kaitlyn, 39, popped into the comments section to write, "You are one bright ass light."
Zac completed the marathon in 3:16:43. "Felt good, my best for NYC," he wrote. "Thank you volunteers, fans, New York Roadrunners and my Release family."
Fans first started speculating that something was going on between Zac and Kaitlyn when they spent New Year's Eve together and were spotted cozying up to each other in a video from the party. In July, she confirmed that she was seeing someone who lived in another city but admitted that she was still dating other people and had no plans to relocate for her mystery man (Zac lives in New York while Kaitlyn is in Nashville).
Zac was previously engaged to TayshiaAdams after they met on The Bachelorette in 2020. However, they split one year later. At the time, Tayshia, 34, was cohosting season 18 of The Bachelorette with Kaitlyn. The "Off the Vine" podcast host hinted that she and her former cohost and friend had a falling out over the situation with Zac.
"I went on a date with somebody from the franchise and I reached out to the girl that he used to be with," Kaitlyn, 39, said on the "U Up?" podcast in August. "[I was] thinking it would be a situation where they'd go, 'I mean, I don't love it, but I'm not going to say don't.' It was not."
Although she didn't name names in the interview, fans speculated that she was referring to Tayshia and Zac in the story. "I went, 'So I'm just going to get a pulse check and see how it makes her feel,'" Kaitlyn explained. "I [texted and] said, 'Hey, [your ex] DMed me and we've been chatting. I know you're really happy in a relationship, so I don't actually know if this would bother you or not. I don't know if it was worth giving you a phone call ...' It clearly seemed like a text thing to me. And yes, she called and was very upset."
Kaitlyn added that the other woman told her, "I always knew you were a bad person and you've confirmed it, so your true colors are showing," during the phone call.
In October, Tayshia seemingly publicly reacted to the situation in a TikTok video where she mouthed along to a Nicki Minaj quote that said, "I never found you funny. I never found you entertaining. I never found you smart. I just found you annoying."
Although Kaitlyn and Zac have been spotted together several times since their first New Year's Eve sighting, they have not publicly commented on their relationship status. Kaitlyn also recently confirmed that she would not be putting her next relationship on social media, as she said she felt being so public with ex Jason Tartick was part of why things didn't work out between them. The two were engaged before calling it quits in 2023.
