15th century pub to turn back the clock for night of Northern Soul

A charity event will see a pub turn back the clock for a night of Northern Soul.

The Fleece Inn, in Bretforton, will be hosting the evening in aid of Campden Home Nursing on Saturday, November 8.

The event will include spinning vinyl and Northern Soul classics that will fill the dancefloor.

People are encouraged to attend and show off their skills on the dancefloor.

Stephen Marshall, CEO of Campden Home Nursing, said: "For 35 years we've been proud to provide compassionate end-of-life care for people in their own homes, at no charge.

"Events like this bring the community together in the best way through music, energy and shared purpose.

"This will help us continue supporting local families when they need it most."

Nigel Smith, landlord of The Fleece Inn, said: "The Fleece has always had soul, but on November 8, we will be bringing the real deal!

"Dust off your dancing shoes, show off your moves, and let's raise the roof (and some funds) for an incredible cause.

"We are also calling on Northern Soul dancers and enthusiasts, whether you can backspin, shuffle, or just love the music, to join in and show what true soul looks like on the dance floor."

The event will start from 8pm, with tickets available for £10 from https://buytickets.at/fleeceinngrasroots.

Northern Soul was born in the dancehalls of Northern England in the late 1960s, celebrating the fast, passionate beats of rare American soul records.

It became a cultural phenomenon, celebrating freedom, individuality, and sheer joy on the dancefloor.

The motto was simple: "Keep Faith."

Campden Home Nursing provides end-of-life care, bereavement and wellbeing support.

For 35 years, the charity has supported patients and families in their own homes across Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, and Warwickshire, with a base in Chipping Campden.

Owned by the National Trust and run by landlord Nigel Smith, The Fleece Inn is a 15th-century pub in the heart of Bretforton, Evesham.

Renowned for its historic charm, community spirit, and lively calendar of traditional music, food, and fundraising events, it is a hub for local culture and celebration.
