18-year-old facing drunk driving charges after going wrong-way on Route 101

An 18-year-old from New Hampshire was taken into custody early Saturday morning after police allege she was drunk and driving the wrong way on Route 101.

It was around 3:22 a.m. when New Hampshire State Police started receiving reports of a wrong-way driver on the highway in Raymond.

Troopers responded and found a silver Honda Civic traveling westbound in the eastbound high-speed lane in Candia, according to police, who say the vehicle was safely pulled over in the area of mile marker 64.6.

The driver, identified as Savannah Leigh McClaughry-Bertelsen, was arrested and charged with reckless conduct, aggravated DUI, DUI, reckless operation, open container of alcohol, and transportation of alcoholic beverages by a minor, police said.

Route 101 eastbound was closed briefly as police investigated on scene.

McClaughry-Bertelsen, of Manchester, was held in protective custody at the Rockingham County Jail and later released on personal recognizance bail, police added. She's scheduled to be arraigned in Candia District Court on Monday, Nov. 17. It's unclear if she's obtained an attorney.
