Patrick Gurd is transferring to Cincinnati for his final year of college football.
The former Ohio State tight end announced his commitment to the Bearcats on Monday night.
Gurd becomes the second former Buckeye in Cincinnati's tight end room, joining Joe Royer, who transferred to Cincinnati last offseason. He becomes the fourth total former Ohio State player on Cincinnati's roster, joining running back Evan Pryor and safety Kye Stokes, who also both transferred to Cincinnati last offseason.
Gurd leaves Ohio State after five seasons in which he played primarily on special teams but also saw occasional time on offense as a tight end and blocking fullback over the past two seasons. A walk-on in Columbus, Gurd caught two passes for 15 yards as a Buckeye and played 88 offensive snaps over the past two seasons.
He'll have the potential to play a bigger role at Cincinnati in tandem with Royer, who's also entering his sixth year of college football. Royer caught 50 passes for 521 yards and three touchdowns in his first season as a Bearcat in 2024.
