Fortinet, a networking and security company, introduced the Secure AI Data Center solution, an end-to-end framework that protects the different layers of artificial intelligence (AI) systems, including infrastructure, applications, and large language models.
Fortinet said the framework is built to secure the full AI stack. It provides threat defense with low latency and lowers average power consumption compared with older approaches.
"AI data centers demand both massive performance and deep protection," said Nirav Shah, SVP of Products and Solutions of Fortinet. "Our Secure AI Data Center solution unifies those capabilities, combining ASIC-powered firewalls like the FortiGate 3800G with advanced protection for data, applications, and LLMs so organizations can scale AI without compromising security, performance, or efficiency."
The launch includes the FortiGate 3800G, a data center firewall designed to handle the demands of AI workloads. The device uses NP7 and SP5 ASICs and supports 400 GbE connectivity. Fortinet said the 3800G provides throughput and power efficiency needed in AI environments and works as part of the Secure AI Data Center framework to help protect GPU clusters in real time.
The Secure AI Data Center solution covers different stages of the AI workflow. It supports network segmentation and encrypted traffic inspection and provides security controls at the application and model level. By placing security across these layers, enterprises can help prevent data exposure, block harmful inputs, and follow AI-related compliance rules without affecting the performance of GPU-heavy systems.
The framework includes ASIC-accelerated segmentation to improve throughput while lowering energy use per gigabit. Fortinet said this helps chief information officers manage power and spending for AI systems.
It also expands data center firewall protection for large GPU clusters. With ASIC acceleration and 400 GbE support, Fortinet's data center firewalls aim to balance protection and cost efficiency for organizations that run large AI workloads.
The Secure AI Data Center framework also adds protection for large language models. It monitors model traffic and applies guardrails on inputs and outputs to help reduce risks such as prompt injection, data leakage, and misuse. These controls work across local, hybrid, and public cloud setups.
The system integrates with the Fortinet Security Fabric to manage firewalling, application security, and AI runtime protections from one place. This setup is intended to simplify compliance, reduce audit work, and make operations easier for IT teams.
Other features include granular application security that screens traffic before it reaches AI models. The solution also supports post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution to help protect AI data against future threats.
