Timex has added a new field watch to its Expedition Capstone series as of October 14. It's a compact, no-nonsense 39mm quartz watch that keeps the Expedition formula simple: tough build, clean design, and dependable performance.
The watch has a brushed gunmetal brass case, a flat mineral crystal, and a matte black dial with large, luminescent numerals and hands for easy legibility. A small date window sits at 3 o'clock, keeping the layout uncluttered. The Capstone runs on a tried-and-tested quartz movement and offers 50 meters of water resistance - enough for light swimming and daily wear.
Timex is offering two strap options: green or black silicone, both fitted with quick-release spring bars for easy swapping. However, please note that the black silicone strap is out of stock as of writing. The straps are described as "soft but durable" in the company's marketing copy.
The Expedition heritage stretches back decades, with Timex consistently offering outdoor-focused, value-packed watches for everyone - from students to seasoned hikers. While past models like the Expedition Scout (curr. $44.97 on Amazon) were more about classic field aesthetic, the Capstone tightens everything up in a more contemporary package, dialling back the bulk. The new Capstone model, along the same lines, is a straightforward, well-made daily watch that doesn't overthink what it's supposed to do. At $129, it's another reminder that Timex still knows how to deliver practical field watches that actually feel built for the outdoors.
