Selim Haider; one of the founding members of legendary Bangladeshi band Feedback and a celebrated guitarist, has passed away.
He died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka, according to the band.
His janaza was held on Friday after Jummah at Hatirpool Pukur Par Jam-e-Mosque.
Feedback confirmed the news of his death through social media.
Family and band sources said the guitarist had been suffering from cancer and various other health complications. He was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and was admitted to the hospital when his condition deteriorated.
Fuad Nasser, another founding member of Feedback, also confirmed the news to the media.
Before forming Feedback, Selim Haider began his musical journey with the band Sannyasi, where the late vocalist Sheikh Ishtiaq was the lead singer.
He later played lead guitar for Feedback and Maqsood O' Dhaka. Most recently, he performed with Ullas and Selim Haider & Friends.
Selim Haider composed two of Feedback's popular songs; "Eidin Chirodin Robe" and "Oi Dur Theke Dure."
Over his career, he played guitar on countless songs and also performed alongside renowned singer Runa Laila. Although best known as a lead guitarist, he was equally skilled at bass, rhythm guitar and keyboard.
