Fort Collins receives first snow with the forecast calling for chances of more

From checking your gutters to making sure you have a good shovel on hand, here are some things you can do to help prepare your home for winter.

Fort Collins received its first snowfall of the season, albeit just enough to cover the grass, and after a mild weekend is forecast to see more rain and snow and lows in the teens.

Late October weather system brought Fort Collins first snow of the season

The Oct. 29-31 storm brought 0.1 inch of snow and .31 inches of precipitation, as recorded at the city's official weather station on the main campus of CSU.

It was the first precipitation for the city in October.

The average for Fort Collins in October is 1.25 inches of precipitation and 4.1 inches of snow, according to the Colorado Climate Center.
