Biker dies in Stoke-on-Trent crash - Stoke-on-Trent Live

A biker has died after a collision with a car. A cordon remains in place on Belgrave Road, on the outskirts of Dresden, where an investigation into the fatal crash continues.

It comes as police, paramedics and the Midlands Air Ambulance had all been scrambled to the scene early this afternoon. Officers sent to the crash - which occurred between the junctions of Lightwood Road and Belgrave Crescent - found a collision between a grey SYM Jet motorbike and a silver Ford Ecosport.

The biker, a man, suffered 'serious injuries' and was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. His next of kin have been informed while the driver of the car, also a man, is 'assisting officers with their enquiries'.

During the height of the incident and Belgrave Road was shut between the Lightwood Road and Chaplin Road junctions. Police say a cordon remains up this afternoon.

Emergency services had been called at 12.30pm today.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers were called to Belgrave Road, Dresden, following reports of a collision involving a grey SYM Jet motorbike and a silver Ford Ecosport.

"The rider of the motorbike, a man, suffered serious injuries at the scene. Crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Midlands Air Ambulance attended the scene, but sadly the man was pronounced dead a short time later. His next of kin have been informed.

"The driver of the car, a man, is assisting officers with their enquiries. A cordon remains in place on the road while officers continue with the investigation.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or those with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the area are asked to get in touch with us."

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a Community First Responder and the Midlands Air Ambulance to the scene.
