ANDOVER -- Temple Emanuel of Andover's Social Action Committee will present the next program in its community speaker series, "Lazarus House Ministries - Supporting the Community with Dignity and Compassion," from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 1 at Temple Emanuel, 7 Haggetts Pond Road.
The program will be offered both in person and via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public with advanced registration required at templeemanuelofandover.shulcloud.com/form/lazarus.
The program will feature leaders from Lazarus House Ministries, a nonprofit organization based in Lawrence dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing poverty, homelessness and food insecurity.
Through a network of programs, Lazarus House works to uplift the most vulnerable members of the local community with dignity, respect and compassion.
The program will include remarks by its Executive Director Carmen Vega and Major Gifts Officer Nancy Gottesman, as well as a video presentation highlighting the many ways Lazarus House Ministries serves those in need.
"We are honored to welcome Lazarus House to Temple Emanuel and hear directly from their leadership about the organization's mission, the scope of its programs, and the ongoing need for food, housing, and resource support in Greater Lawrence," said Kathe Tuttman and Susie Novick, co-chairs of the Social Action Committee Speaker Series.
"Their work represents a powerful example of neighbors helping neighbors. This event is an opportunity for our community to learn more about the challenges facing families in Lawrence and to explore meaningful ways to offer support."
Guests are encouraged to bring boxed macaroni and cheese or canned beans for local families in need.
