Tre Johnson scored a career-best 30 points in the win over Texas A&M on Saturday and hasn't come close to hitting the proverbial, debilitating freshman wall. Heck, he can't even see it. When I asked him about it Tuesday before Texas' game against Chris Beard and Ole Miss on Wednesday, Johnson said, "We're too deep in the season to be trying to find the wall so I hope I'm not going to see no wall no time soon. But I just feel like I have some ups and downs throughout the season. I don't think about hitting the wall because I just know there's so many other things I could be doing." And what did Rodney Terry and his staff compliment him the most on? "How locked in I was on defense," Johnson said. He won SEC Freshman of the Week honors after averaging 21 points, three assists, 2.5 rebounds and a block against Missouri and A&M and hit 15 of 16 free throws. He leads the league in scoring with 18.8 points a game ahead of Alabama point guard Mark Sears (18.1) although Sears has made 120 free throws to Johnson's 52 because he drives to the basket more. ... Ole Miss, like Texas, isn't a great rebounding team. The Rebels don't shoot that well (14th in the league in field goal percentage), but rank first in the league in steals (10 a game) and turnover margin (a plus-6.60).
