A number of incidents have taken place during todays status orange weather warning, including damage to a building an fallen trees which have been dealt with by the Fire Brigade
The Dublin Fire Brigade have been busy this evening as they respond to a number of issues across the county brought on by the storm.
An Orange Rain warning has been issued for Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow from 12am Friday to 11am on Saturday. Met Eireann warns of substantial rainfall which could result in significant flooding and treacherous travel conditions.
The hard-working fire brigade were called to a location at the Point Village, where a window fell due to the wind strength and damaged cladding.
"Firefighters have made a scene safe at the Point Village. A window affected by high winds fell and damaged cladding on a building. There were temporary traffic restrictions in place on approach to Dublin Tunnel" they shared via X.
In another incident, Kilbarrack firefighters were called to a tree down this evening. "The crew cleared the tree and made the scene safe," they said via X.
A fallen tree on the N81 Blessington Road near Mount Seskin Road also caused traffic delays earlier this evening. Dublin Fire Brigade tended to the scene. They reported: "Traffic restrictions in place on the N81 at Mount Seskin Firefighters from Tallaght fire station are on scene"
Reports of flooded roads have been made across the county, with many rivers and drainage systems already at capacity due to previous days of rain. Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather said rain is falling on already water-logged ground, which may "tip things over the edge".
"It's not probably out of the ordinary in its own isolated event but the problem is the rain is falling on very wet soil given how much rain we've had in recent weeks," he said. "So, given that the land is already unfortunately flooded, this rainfall event is going to just tip things over the edge I suppose if you look at it from that point of view.
"And there is a risk of over 100ml of rain to fall on the Wicklow Mountains, and that wouldn't be something that'd be typical."
National Director for Fire and Emergency Management Keith Leonard warns that Storm Claudia has caused "significant flooding right across the country" with "probably more to come."
