Rabies awareness programme, vaxx drive in Bintulu this weekend | Borneo Post Online

BINTULU (Nov 24): The public is invited to join a rabies awareness programme taking place at the basement parking of Commerce Square here on Nov 29 and 30, from 9am to 4pm.

It is organised by NE Aquarium in conjunction with its third anniversary, through a collaboration with the Sarawak Animals Rescuers Association (Sara), Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) and Universiti Putra Malaysia Sarawak (UPMS).

As part of efforts to curb the spread of rabies and promote responsible pet ownership, free anti-rabies vaccinations will be offered for dogs, while vaccinations for cats will be available at RM10 each, limited to two cats per household.

Only 100 vaccinations will be administered on each day.

A mobile veterinary clinic will also operate throughout the programme, offering affordable treatments for both cats and dogs, including deworming, ringworm treatment, fever and flu medication, vitamins, and antibiotic injections for injuries.

Each is priced at RM5 per pet, with payments via QR code.

Pet owners are reminded that animals brought for anti-rabies vaccination must be healthy, at least three months old, weigh 1.5kg or more, and must not be pregnant or nursing.

The organisers encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their pets and help strengthen community awareness on rabies prevention in Bintulu.
