...commissions Wuye District Infrastructure after sixteen years of neglect
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that he would use 20 days to show "social media presidents and Nigerians" what the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration has done in the educational sector in the FCT.
The Minister disclosed this during the inauguration of the Wuye Engineering Infrastructure Project, marking the 20th day of the FCT Administration's continuous flag-off and commissioning programme.
He said, "We will take 20 days to show Nigerians, to show social media president what we have done in the education sector. So we are not going to rush.
"We are not going to rush; we are going to shock them with what we have done in the education sector, so that they will know that President Tinubu's administration is not only concentrating on the infrastructure in the FCT, as regards the network of roads, it is also focusing on the education sector."
The minister said he would take a pause after 20 days of flagging off and commissioning projects.
"I have told the chief of staff, we are going to end our flag off, our commissioning, at least for today. 20 days is not two days, so we will take a rest and come back and focus on education," he said.
According to the Minister, the projects being inaugurated were abandoned since 2009, sixteen years ago, due to non-payment of contractors.
He explained that the Tinubu administration took decisive steps to revive them, leading to massive infrastructural development in Wuye and Gwagwalada District, including new road networks, sectoral arterials, tunnels, and utility services.
"When this administration came in, the President took immediate steps to revive what had been neglected. Within one year in office, major projects were completed, including the interchange that once caused traffic chaos in the area," he noted.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting all political leaders who align with the President's vision, adding that a "political tsunami" of performance-driven governance is sweeping through the territory.
"Those in real estate used to complain: No roads, no infrastructure, our businesses are collapsing. Can you still say that today? Every day, you see progress because infrastructure has been provided. That's what development looks like," he said.
"My dear people, look around you. If you live here, if you have property here, your conscience will tell you the truth, that leadership has returned to this country. The Renewed Hope Agenda is real. Forget my face; what matters is the work being done."
In her remarks, the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, described the Wuye Engineering Infrastructure Project as a testament to the administration's resolve to deliver infrastructure that uplifts communities and restores hope.
"As we celebrate this achievement, let us remember that every milestone is a promise kept, and every completion is a beginning anew," Mahmoud said, while thanking President Tinubu for illuminating every corner of the FCT through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
She also commended Wike for his "exemplary leadership and relentless drive to deliver projects that touch lives and uplift communities."
In a related development, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, in a statement on Tuesday issued to newsmen, disclosed that the Minister will hold his routine monthly Media Chat on Friday, October 24, 2025.
According to the statement: "Having concluded 20 days of project commissioning and flag-off, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, will hold his monthly Media Chat on Friday, October 24, 2025.
