Protestors have often hit out at Barclays over its ties to Israel, claiming that the firm is 'bankrolling genocide' as it acts as a 'primary dealer' for the state's government bonds.
Announcing the deal last week, SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell praised the company.
He said: "In the course of the conversations we've had over the past few months, Barclays' desire to support Scottish football - across the levels - has been clear."
"The impact of their investment will be felt within the walls of Barclays Hampden and far beyond - not least helping fuel the kind of programmes we run that harness the power of football and make an everyday impact in Scottish society."
However, activists and left-wing politicians have slammed the move.
Green councillor Holly Bruce, whose Langside ward includes Hampden, said the naming "sends the worst possible message at the worst possible time".
"The genocide inflicted on Palestinians in Gaza has been one of the worst crimes of this century, and it has been enabled by the arms companies that Barclays is funding."
Likewise, campaign group Mothers Against Genocide remarked: "We call on families across Scotland to voice their opposition to this sponsorship deal and for Hampden to reverse its decision."

Barclays has published a statement on its website explaining the bank's position on the 'anti-defence movement'.
It states: "You may have seen criticism of Barclays for providing services to the defence sector. We are committed to being transparent about our role as a bank and we are always willing to talk about the work we do and why we do it.
"The anti-defence movement criticises Barclays for financing defence manufacturers. We are a bank which, like others in the UK, provides financial services to companies which, in many cases, make defence equipment alongside their civilian products.
"These companies are an important contributor to our national security and at a time of increasing geopolitical instability, we don't think taking away these services is the right thing to do."
