Two dead after early morning crash in Vaughan, police say

VAUGHAN -- Ontario Provincial Police say two men are dead after a car crash involving a vehicle and a tractor trailer on a highway in Vaughan early Sunday morning.

Police say officers were called to a report of the crash in the northbound lane of Highway 400 south of Teston Road at 3:45 a.m.

Investigators say the vehicle, which was operating as a ride-share, had struck the end of a guardrail when exiting the highway, which caused the collision with the tractor trailer.

They say two 30-year-old men from Bradford West Gwillimbury who were passengers of the ride-share were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with critical injuries, while the driver of the tractor trailer did not report injuries.

Police say the northbound lanes of Highway 400 were closed for several hours but have since reopened, and say the investigation continues.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 7, 2025.
