This follows remedial works at the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant as part of the ongoing major upgrade works with consistent satisfactory sampling results.

The Boil Water Notice was put in place on September 4, due to high turbidity as well as the presence of cryptosporidium in the raw water source.

The Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant which supplies the Ardfinnan Scheme has faced extensive operational issues.

The raw water source from the Knockmealdown Mountains is vulnerable to changing weather conditions.

The plant is undergoing a significant upgrade which will provide a more robust and reliable water supply when complete.

These works are ongoing, but we are already seeing the benefits of what has been done to date as plant stability has improved.

This along with consistent satisfactory sampling results has now enabled the lifting of the boil water notice.

Ongoing upgrade works will continue into the new year to ensure a more reliable and resilient water supply for local homes and businesses.

Uisce Éireann's Fionnuala Callery acknowledged the impact of the notice on the community: "Uisce Éireann regrets the inconvenience that the Boil Water Notice had on the customers of the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply. Our primary focus remains the protection of public health. I would like to thank the community for their patience and support while our drinking water experts worked to lift the notice as quickly as it was safe to do so."
