An action movie praised as 'the movie of the decade' by film fans is set to air on Film 4 tonight.
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Taika Waititi, Dwayne Johnson, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Lil Rel Howery and Jodie Comer, Free Guy is a comedy take on action films from the Disney studios and it's one that film fans are saying is a 'must see.'
Released in 2021, Free Guy focuses on Ryan Reynolds as Guy, a background character in the violent game "Free City" who lives a repetitive life. His world changes when he encounters a human player, played by Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer, and decides he wants to change things to try and win her over.
The film was a huge box office success, especially for an original movie, grossing over $300 million worldwide when it hit theatres in 2021. In the past four years it's continued to go from strength to strength, with many hailing it as a must watch on streaming platform Disney+ but it's now available on Film 4.
Writing on Rotten Tomatoes, where the film has an impressive 80% score on the Tomatometer, fans of the film have been giving it five stars. One person wrote: "A brilliant and awesome crowd pleaser! Loved the cast and the funny moments, to me this is a classic."
Another felt similar as they wrote: "This might just be the movie of the decade it has stunning visual effects great characters and a perfect cast."
"This is my personal favourite movie of all time. Ryan Reynolds was the PERFECT cast for Guy. The cast is overall phenomenal. The story? An amazing story about self discovery and a wonderful love story," said a third. "Plus there's a lot of pop culture references, which is always fun to see. And the humour is so funny.
"Every joke hits, but this movie has great emotional bits. Like an NPC feeling love for the first time and feeling human to Keys, who struggles with his love for his past coworker. In conclusion, this is a must watch. Whether your critic or someone just trying to enjoy a fun movie, I'm sure you'll love it."

Others who didn't give it five stars were still positive about the film, as one posted: "I didn't actually like the trailer to it and I didn't know if I was actually going to bother watching it but when I watched it, it was awesome."
