Veterans Day 2024: What's open and closed Monday, and when is the parade?

America will celebrate Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11, to honor all who served in the U.S. military.

Veterans Day is a federal holiday. Government offices, public schools and some businesses will be closed.

Here's a look at what offices are closed in observance of the holiday, what remains open and how to attend the Veterans Day Parade:

What is closed in Reno, Sparks, Washoe County on Veterans Day 2024?

Closed in Reno

All city of Reno administrative offices, including City Hall.

City of Reno Adaptive Cycling Center, California Building, McKinley Arts & Culture Center, Northwest Pool, Plumas Gym, Reno Tennis Center, skate parks, Sky Tavern and Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center.

Closed in Washoe County

Washoe County School District schools and the University of Nevada, Reno are closed.

Administrative offices at 1001 E. Ninth St., the Washoe County Registrar's Office, Washoe County libraries, Regional Animal Services shelter and office.

All Reno, Sparks and Washoe County courts and district attorney's office.

Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue Headquarters/Fire Prevention and Administrative Offices on 3663 Barron Way

Northern Nevada Public Health's clinical services, Washoe County Human Services Agency and all meal distribution locations.

Closed in Nevada

All state offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles locations are closed.

Almost all banks will also be closed on Veterans Day. Post offices will be closed and deliveries will stop for the holiday.

FedEx Express, Ground, Ground Economy and Freight shipping will also be closed.

What is open on Nevada Day?

Moana Springs Community Aquatics & Fitness Center will be open from 6 a.m. to noon.

Though the Washoe County Registrar's office will be closed, staff will still be working in the ballot room counting votes. The public can observe this work through Washoe County's 24/7 livestream video of the process.

The Office of the County Clerk at the Washoe County Complex will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for fictitious firm names, notary bond filings and marriage licenses. However, passport services will not be available.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office and its administrative offices will be unavailable. However, visiting and cashier services will remain open, and if citizens need emergency assistance they can call 911 or contact the non-emergency line at 775-785-WCSO (9276).

Though Regional Animal Services Shelter Operations and Office will be closed, field operations will continue as normal. Pet redemptions will be available 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

County libraries will be closed, but book drops and online services will be available.

Though most USPS and some FedEx services will be unavailable, FedEx's home delivery, offices, Custom Critical delivery and FedEx Trade Networks will remain open.

You can still buy stamps at most grocery, pharmacy, and convenient stores.

UPS delivery, pickup and offices will remain open, but people using UPS SurePost and UPS  Mail Innovations should expect a day delay for packages.

Where are the Veterans Day parades in Reno, Virginia City?

The Veterans Day Parade in Reno will be between Sixth and Liberty Streets on Nov. 11 at 11:11 a.m. Virginia City will have a parade the same day at 11 a.m. on C St.
