Drop in temperatures necessitates opening of downtown Toledo warming center

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Temperatures this week are expected to be below normal for the last week in December and first week of January.

The WTOL 11 weather team is predicting temperatures in the low 20s for Monday morning with wind chills in the single digits.

In order to give unhoused people a place to go to escape the frigid temperatures, the Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board has announced that a warming center for single adults will be open at St. Paul's UMC at 1201 Madison Avenue from December 28 through January 2.

People in need of a ride are asked to call 2-1-1.

In addition, the board is seeking donations to help keep the warming center running.

Donations can be dropped off at the warming center or people can click here to make a monetary donation using the memo Code Blue.
