Dreame Technology, a leading Chinese appliance maker, has announced a year-end gift of gold for all employees and a trip to Antarctica for 10, alongside their regular bonuses.
Yu Hao, founder and CEO of Dreame, shared the details of the reward through two WeChat Moments posts last week. Each employee will receive a one-gram gold bonus alongside their standard year-end payout. In a special gesture, the company will also send 10 employees on a trip to Antarctica, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
The gold giveaway, covering Dreame's 18,500 employees, is valued at approximately 26 million yuan (US$3.7 million), based on current retail gold prices of 1,400 yuan per gram, according to Hongxin News.
This reward reflects Dreame's strong business growth this year, as Chinese robot vacuum cleaner brands continue to lead the global market, SCMP noted. Dreame ranks among the world's top five robot vacuum cleaner vendors for the first three quarters of 2025, holding a 12.4 percent share of the global market, according to research firm IDC.
Founded in 2017, it is diversifying its product offerings, expanding into smartphones, drones, and most recently electric vehicles.
In a similar move, Shenzhen-based technology company Insta360, founded by Chinese billionaire Liu Jingkang, also rewarded its employees with gold gifts on Programmer's Day, Oct. 24. The company honored 21 outstanding engineers with pure gold keycaps, with the Space key weighing 35 grams and valued at approximately 40,000 yuan, according to Sina.
A company spokesperson noted that R&D engineers, regarded as the "core force" of the company's technological innovation, were awarded the golden keycaps as a way of expressing gratitude.
