KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) -- A man is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail nearly a week after police say he committed an attempted armed robbery.
Officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety arrested Tazman Montel Jefferson, 28, Wednesday following an investigation into an armed robbery that happened on Conant Street near Douglas Avenue in Kalamazoo Dec. 14.
Police found Jefferson days after the attempted robbery and eventually caught him after a "brief pursuit." He was allegedly found with a firearm and "distribution quantities" of cocaine, heroin and fentanyl. Officers later found evidence of the attempted robbery in his apartment, KDPS said in a release.
State records show that Jefferson was on parole for prior convictions including armed and unarmed robbery at the time of his arrest.
Jefferson was arraigned Friday on drugs and weapons charges. He is being held on $200,000 bond.
