Six workers suffered burn injuries in a gas explosion while working at a dyeing factory in the BSCIC industrial area of Narayanganj on Sunday morning.
The explosion occurred at about 8:30am in the boiler room on the ground floor of the factory.
The injured workers -- Al Amin, 30, Azizulla, 32, Selim, 35, Jalal Molla, 40, Nazmul Huda, 35, and security guard supervisor Nur Mohammad, 35, -- are now undergoing treatment at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
Al Amin, one of the injured, told UNB, 'We were working in the boiler room of SM Dyeing Printing and Finishing when a loud explosion occurred from the gas line around 8:30am. The room caught fire instantly and all six of us were burnt. We were later rescued and brought to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.'
Shawn Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the hospital, said that the victims were receiving treatment at the emergency department. 'We cannot yet specify the extent of burns as their dressings are going on,' he added.
