T'puram: Under the auspices of Kudumbashree, a state-level children's parliament will be organized at the old legislative assembly building from 10am to 2pm on Tuesday. Two children's parliaments will be held, covering this financial year and the previous one.A total of 330 children who performed excellently in district-level children's parliament will participate. This initiative aims to provide children with an opportunity to understand the importance and scope of democratic system. For participation in both parliaments, children were selected to take on roles such as President, Prime Minister, Speaker, six department ministers, opposition leader, Chief Marshal and ADC. Objectives of the parliament include fostering democratic awareness among children, creating awareness about parliamentary procedures, law-making, govt systems and constitutional values. The children's parliament will also provide an opportunity for children to visit the legislative assembly and understand its procedures. TNN
