Halloween party will donate funds for CPR awareness

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) - Wisconsin Rapids Elks Lodge will host 'Halloween Heartbeats' on October 31.

The event will feature food trucks, a full bar, and DJ Benny Lava will host a dance party until midnight. There will also be a few creepy exhibits with bugs and snakes.

The money raised will go towards buying devices to guide people in the event they need to do CPR.

"The goal would be at least $1,250 in order to get 75 of each size," EMT and Owner of Lifeline Event Services Ben Holberg said.

The device is specifically designed for people who haven't been trained in CPR.

Holberg came across a TikTok of CPRWraps and reached out to the owner. As an EMT, he knows the importance of CPR during a cardiac arrest.

"With cardiac arrest, every second counts," Holberg said.

The CPR Wraps will be distributed around Wood County. They will specifically be donated to Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield Children's Hospital birthing centers to send home with new parents.

"Wood County is my home," Holberg said. "It's where I've always lived and I knew that I needed to do something to help people who needed help."

The event starts at 6 p.m. on October 31 and will go until midnight.
